Hi Michele From here in Sydney also, my research of our Melbourne family leads me to understand that "Gardiner" or "Gardiner's Creek" was an area surrounding the property settled by John Gardiner. As settlement grew, the council area became Malvern and is now part of the City of Stonnington. A very interesting source for Malvern history is the on-line copy of Cooper's "History of Malvern" written around 1935. Go to the city of Stonnington website and it's in their library section, or just "google" for Coopers History of Malvern. I had some earlyish settlers in Gardiners Creek. They build their house on the Cnr of Wattle Tree and Glenferrie Sts which I understand is in Malvern now. Can anybody tell me what's there now???
