    1. 99TH REGIMENT in VICTORIA

    3. Hi all, A relative classified as a Military Pensioner travelled with the 99th regiment from Tasmania to Victoria in 1852 along with his wife and 4 children. I know some "Shipping Intelligence" can state "x amount in steerage" but I reckon there could have been a special news item stating that a ship carrying the "British Red Coats" i.e. 99th regiment had docked in Melbourne or its surrounds. Does the State Library have a monthly index of items transcribed from the newspapers on microfiche? If not where would I look for details of the 99th regiment employment whilst in Melbourne? I did find 2 ships with a number of passengers i.e. "Pacific" from Hobart to Melbourne on 20/11/1852 with 24 passengers and "Yarra Yarra" from Launceston to Melbourne on 20/11/1852 with 73 passengers. Many thanks for your assistance. Michele in Sydney
