    3. Can S.K.S. please tell me what Identification papers, if any, would have been required to get a marriage licence or to get married in Melbourne circa 1912. My brickwall is my maternal g-father who was an Englishman, claimed he came to Australia around 1910 - 11......he met and married my g-mother who was 2nd generation English-Australian, ...marriage date was 26 October, 1912 in Carlton, Melbourne. He NEVER spoke of his life before coming to Australia other than to claim that he spent some time in India with the British Army...... No one has been able to find any conclusive trace of him prior to his arrival in Melbourne...... If there is any chance that there may be some information confirming any paperwork sighted by an official at the time of their marriage I would like to know where I might apply to get copies of it other than just the marriage certificate. Hoping someone may be able to help me with this request.. Karan Nicolaisen, Ardmore, Ok. USA
