Dear List Members - The Brighton Cemetorians have just released Issue 3 of our newsletter 'The Cemetorian'. Of interest is the feature article on William George Robertson (1854-1910) who drowned 8 miles outside Port Phillip Heads whilst onboard HMS Yarra on 10 December 1910. The article includes a family tree and lists surnames: ROBERTSON (Liverpool and St. Kilda), LOCKE (Essendon/Moonee Ponds), HUDSPETH, SEMMENS, MILNE, HERMAN, MORGAN, CONRICK, CAMERON, WORCESTER and COLLIER. We have launched 'The William & Lily Robertson Appeal' with the aim of raising $A400.00 for a bronze memorial plaque on Robertson's grave. Our research indicates that Lieut-Engineer Robertson was the first casualty of the Commonwealth Naval Force (the forerunner of the RAN). Anyone interested in joining the Brighton Cemetorians can visit our website http://www.brightoncemetorians.org. All supporters receive a free copy of the newsletter by email. It's free to join. We are also happy to undertake research requests for any person having difficulty locating a grave at the cemetery. Details are also contained on our website. Kind Regards Travis M.
