Hi All I've been looking at the Family of Jeremiah Breeze and Sophia Cotton for several years. It wasn't until ancestory.com 1841 census of England came on line last Saturday, that I was able to connect Sohpia Cotton to her parents. Sophia was born about 1827, at Reydon, Suffolk to John Cotton and Mary Meckleburg. I found her living with her parents in the 1841 census of Reydon, but by 1851 she is living in London, England and working as a House Servant. She married Jeremiah Breeze in 1852, in Marylebone, Middlesex, London. Jereimiah, Sophia, and a dauther Irene, arrived in Melbourne on the Birmingham on January 27, 1855. The family appear to have settled in the Yambuk area, were Jeremiah must have worked as a carpenter. The children were 1. Irena, born about 1853/54 in England 2. Alfred William Breeze born 1858, in Yambuk, Victoria 3. Clara Eliza Breeze born in 1859, in Yambuk, Victoria 4. Ada Georgina Breeze born in 1861, in Yambuk, Victoria, married John Jones, in 1890, at St. Luke's Anglican Church, South Melbourne. 5. Teresa Albertha Sophia Breeze, born in 1863, in Yambuk, Victoria 6. Eliza Eugenia Breeze, born in 1864, in Yambuk, married a ??? Powell in 1900 in Victoria. 7. Eva Isabella Breeze, born in 1866, in Yambuk 8. Herbert Edward Samuel Breeze, born in 1868, in Yambuk, Victoria. One of your listers Cathie Shaw gathered the information on this family & sent it too me in February of 2004. Sophia's death certificate says her parents were Jno and Mary Cotton who were married in Wangford, Suffolk in 1819, and moved 5 miles down the road to Reydon, in the 1820's. John Cotton had a brother and sister, who's families immigrated to Canada in 1831, the brother, Noah Cotton settled in Oro Township, Simcoe County, and the daughter Mary Cotton ( Skippen, Catchpole ) settled in Guelph, Ontario. Connecting Sophia Cotton (Breeze) too her parents completes the trail of documentation. Mrs E Powell (No. 6 above) visited the descendants of Sophia's brother William Cotton in Wangford, in the summer of 1932, she missed meeting by day's a descendant of Noah Cotton who came over from the United States and the same time. I have a copy of the letter she wrote a cousin in Canada about the missed meeting, and what she found out during her trip. It is this letter which started my search. I'm now looking for descendants of the Breeze Family, the Powell family if any, and the Jones family if any. It is also possible there may be more children, than what Cathie found, as I don't know when they moved to Melbourne. Any help in finding these descendants will be appreciated. If anyone needs a lookup in the British Census's let me know, as I have access through Ancestory.com. It's best if you have a brith date, county, and town. Such as born about 1840, Hemham, Suffolk.
