Thanks Lenore I also have a couple of other ways for my friend to trace the records, there is a will of the foster parents, who raised her from a baby to an adult. also suggested going to BDMs with the date of birth. Unfortunately the fostered child has died but her daughter is trying to find out more, as there seemed to be health problems and she is worried for one of her sons, but also just to know who they are. Her husband was also adopted at birth and has traced his mother, not a nice move, but at least he knows who his is now and has good contact with his brothers. I knew it would not be easy but there must be something there.     3. Carmel, There is another way to try and trace the family. I have had success with www.sunherald.com.au they have a column called desperatley seeking. Melbourne. I think it only printed of a week end. Just put the imfo you have and see what comes back. I was very lucky and found the family that I wanted.
