It depends what you are looking for. If you want a society which can help with information about family who lived in Essendon and district, you will find what you want at the Essendon Historical Society. See my webpage. http://members.optushome.com.au/lenorefrost/ehs.html If you want to attend meetings and hear guest speakers on family history topics, your best bet would be the North Western branch of the Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies which meets in Moonee Ponds once a month of a Monday evening, I think it is.
