    3. Hi all My uncle was adopted at birth in 1941. He did not find out he was adopted until he had a heart attack in 1994, when asked if his parents had a history of heart disease. I guess it was the time elasped that helped him find his natural roots (including me!), but he did tell me that the natural parent/s have to be willing participants and be included on some sort of register, so if the adoptive child wants to find their natural parents - they also have to agree. In his case his mother was already deceased but his natural father (with 7 other children) agreed. Father & son were reunited for about 6 years when the father died. This was the happiest time of my uncle's life. My half brother is also adopted and also born in 1971, but no one has ever told him and he would come to me and ask questions as he knows I do family history, but I know for a fact that if I enquired on his behalf, I would be told not to bother as only the adoptive child themselves can apply to family services. Hope this helps Darlene >From: Sharon Hronsky <shronsky@yahoo.co.uk> >Reply-To: DPS-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com >To: DPS-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [DPS] adoptions >Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2006 07:46:39 +0100 (BST) > >Hi Sharon > > I was adopted in 1971 (35 years ago).
