I know of at least four executed prisoners who were not buried within the grounds of Old Melbourne Gaol but are buried in Melbourne General Cemetery instead. This occurred in 1863 and 1864. Perhaps they were the remains of those considered not worthy of a proper burial - people who were hung, and buried outside of the fence that surrounded the old cemetery!
