On the NSW birth certificate of their son Leslie John b 1879, the father and mother are described as EDWIN HERBERT JACOBS, b England, age 32 CONSTANCE ROSE HOOPER, b Melbourne, age 29 Married Melbourne 1871 However I cannot find either the marriage of Edwin & Constance 1871 or the birth of Constance abt 1851 in the Vic Pioneer Index. Hi Alan Not sure if someone else has replied as yet but I checked both Victoria and SA for the birth of Constance and their marriage and came up with nothing. Have you got a certificate of one of the other children, I have found that sometimes "mistaken" information differs from one child to the next especially if a few years have lapsed.
