    3. Hello List,   I would very much appreciate some advice and help on finding information from shipping records in the Public Record Office, Victoria.    I am looking for the joining/engagement details of seaman Arthur HAYWARD who joined German barque C Paulsen in Melbourne before she sailed for Newcastle on January 17 1889.  The C Paulsen had arrived in Melbourne from London via Mauritius in late December 1888.  I believe Arthur HAYWARD was resident in Melbourne at the time he signed on.   What I really need to know is what his previous ship was.  This would typically be given in Engagement Registers, but is not specifically listed under any of the information in PROVguide 49 on the website Public Record Office, Victoria; although it looks like the series VPRS 22  Customs, Shipping and Immigration Records 1839-1898, may contain what I am looking for.   Has anyone experience of using these records?  I would very much appreciate some advice on this, and if there is anyone who could do a lookup for me that would be fantastic!   Thanks in anticipation.   Derek Hayward Dorset, UK __________________________________________________________ Not happy with your email address?.
