    3. I have heard people say they found the cert still in the inquest documentation. Tom On Wed, 13 Aug 2008 09:06:22 +1000, Eric Tetlow wrote: >The C.D. is only an Index. 3. Yes, I agree I had one in the 1960s. A Viet veteran was discharged from Heidelberg Military Hospital and told nothing more could be done for him. He drowned himself in the Yarra an hour later. Another Viet veteran suicide not recorded? The death certificate was in the inquest file. The death could not be recorded without the certificate. The certificate could not be removed from the file to be taken to the Registrar. A photocopy of the certificate was not sufficient evidence for the Registrar. The suggestion was that the family might be able to get a legal injunction to allow a solicitor to take a "certified copy" which might be acceptable by the Registrar. They were too poor to even consider court+ lawyer, so the poor man's death is unrecorded. It was a very unsatisfactory result both for me and the children who were my pro bono clients at the time.
