It is just nice to have a name of a ship that our ancestors came over on, but since the amount of imigrants that came to Austrailia back then was huge it would be easy to loose trace of people. It is also possible that they paid their own fare for the passage in which case there may not be a record. Two of my own ancestors arrived in this way and I only found their arrival date and ship name from a South Australian newspaper report.
