    3. Hello Marianne, Thanks for that info, but yes, I do have the Naturalisation paper in my possession, purchased from the National Archives a few years ago. Unfortunately, it is of a different Ah Cue, he was a Turner by trade and was much younger than my own ancestor. Thanks for pointing it out to me though. Cheers, Barry Howard, Victoria, Australia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Petal & Clea Smith" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2008 9:35 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-MELBOURNE] Ah Cue and GSV > Hi Barry, > > I'm not sure if you have seen Ah Cue's Naturalisation Papers on > National Archives. > > Marianne >

    3. Hi Marianne, That's really great news, but I am having trouble locating the record could you tell me how to get to it, please? I am in the NA website now as a guest reader and I have found a record with a photo but the Naturilsation was done in Queensland so not sure if it's the one you mention. 3. Hi Barry I just searched Ah Cue and there were 17 results only 2 with scans from memory. I tried them both. Will double check for you. 3. Hello Again, Barry, Did you notice that there was, in the Naturalisation lists, also an Ah CUEW who was naturalised in 1884? A728 vol 2 page 83 No 2949 A727-28-91 A712-84 88034 are the numbers given. In the prison records for females there is an Isabella Ah Kew... have you looked at that alternative spelling? I remember (because I have a chinese ancestor) when I was a volunteer transcriber of the inward passenger lists (for ten years), being very frustrated at the captains who just listed "350 chinese" instead of naming them, and then the arrival of a german ship with hundreds of chinese passengers, listed in phonetic german! Transcribing that (in German style handwriting) was VERY difficult! So I'm never surprised when people can't find their people on the shipping lists. 3. Hello Ada, Thanks once again for the information, I will have a look at those names when I get more time on the weekend. I really appreciate your help and you sharing your experiences as a transcriber. Thanks, Barry Howard, Victoria, Australia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ada Ackerly" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2008 5:10 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-MELBOURNE] Ah Cue and GSV > Hello Again, Barry, > > Did you notice that there was, in the Naturalisation lists, also an > Ah CUEW who was naturalised in 1884? > > A728 vol 2 page 83 No 2949 > A727-28-91 > A712-84 88034 > > are the numbers given.
