    3. Hello Alan, I had a search on behalf of a family many years ago, where in the late 1850s the mother was always the informant on birth certificates until she became ill when they moved to the country, and the fourth child was born and died, and the father took over as informant. She had always listed him as "William from Edinburgh" He gave himself "Wilhelm from Nova Scotia" which opened up a new successful avenue of research for the lass who had claimed a "brick wall". Though at first she was sceptical, because the parents moved back to the city a few years later and the mother again took the role of informant, with her "William from Edinburgh" for their sixth child and he went back to his previous trade after a stint as "a farmer". The Victorian stipulation that "Previous issue both alive and dead" should be entered on the certificates clinched the authenticity of my contention to them, and the Nova Scotia link was explored by them. So, sometimes, it's worth spending the money!! Regards Ada margaret trewick wrote: > Alan > I checked all I had and found nothing for you either.
