Ian Not able to find this record although there is an Geoffrey Allan Nicholls died the same year and is in the inquest data. I had a quick look at the bdm site, the indexes and certificates up until the end of 1986 are on line but you would have to apply for the death certificate and pay for the check, unless you have an exact date. The restrictions apply to deaths less than 10 yrs. I know the bdm office is very busy, they are in the building were I work and there is always a long queue. The BDM site seems to say death certificates are available[index as well] on-line up to 1985 but after that there is a long process involving privacy, which makes the process a lot more difficult.
