Like you, Barry I could never afford to belong to Ancestry.com, FindMyPast et al. Apart from which I am on dial-up and so most websites are not available for me. Plus the lovely Optus interrupt my calls and drop me off at irregular intervals. And no, I don't have "call waiting". Members of GSV who can go to their HQ can have free use of these pay-as-you-look sites and an extensive library there, so they do get a lot from their membership, plus a very good quarterly magazine, but if one cannot afford membership, it's not much good listing the goodies. As a half-super person, I can appreciate it is becoming increasingly expensive to do family tree ... but then there is a Free BDM site for UK, and if Cornwall, "Parish Clerks" have made lots of records freely available,so if you can spend some time on a free site (which Optus won't let ME do) you can get lots of info.I believe. (sigh...) And, as you have found, people are happy to do "lookups" if they have the records easily available to them. Most kind. So, I wasn't thinking that you were "stingy" Barry, because you explained that distance was also a problem, and I know what a limited income is. Good luck in your research, I hope you get some joy from the Golden Dragon Museum.
