To Celebrate Victoria's 150th Birthday; those Citizens of Victoria born on or before 1 January 1901 were sent a "Special Medallion" to Celebrate the event. When exactly was Victoria's Birthday, as the letter sent out by Premier John CAIN, is not dated. I am most curious to find what proof was needed by the Premier as to a person's age, before presenting them with the Medallion? If proof was required before the presentation of the Medallion was made: then whom would you contact to find what proof was sent them? Robert KEMSLEY

The Colony of Victoria was created on July 1, 1851, so you should be able to calculate the 150th birthday from that info. Cheers, Tom <tomp@st.net.au> Tom Perrett
Hi Tom; Sincere thanks for this information, but the date sought would have had to have been much earlier, as the Family Recipient died 1989. Since your message and armed with your information; I "Googled" and have just found "1985 Victoria 150 Years"; this would fit into the time frame it would have had to have been? Plus; again "Googling"; I found that John CAIN was Premier (3rd time) 8 Apr 1982 to 10 Aug 19990. Once again; Thank you for your interest.
