I just checked my grandfather's records .. part of his duty ... he started off in Gallipoli in 1915 .. then he was transferred .. he was in the 5th light trench mortar battery .. on duty 5 March 1917 .. was wounded and also ended up with trench fever ... he had been in hospital from 16 Apr till the 13 May 1917 .. put back on duty on that day .. fought and was admitted again to hospital with 'effects of gas' .. then he went back to fight after that .. and then ended up with a gunshot wound in the knee ... by comparison he was 'lucky' .. he came home ....
