Hello Kerryn, I can't offer you any concrete info but you can search the New Zealand bdms, just google <nz bdm> & they should come up. That's where I found my gg granpa's death & burial after many years searching in London. Cheers. ADAMS: My great great grandfather was George ADAMS (not the tattersalls one :) b 1831 Saffron Walden, Essex, England d 1921 Flemington, Victoria. I have quite a lot of information on him, apart from his arrival in Australia which must have been around 1852 as we're pretty sure we found him in England in the 1851 census. His first wife was Catherine Barry b abt 1832 Limerick, Ireland. They married 1853 in Fremantle WA. Catherine died 1884 Carlton, Victoria. They had 9 children all of whom we've managed to finally trace apart from their youngest son David who was born 1866 Hotham, Victoria. David was still alive at his father's death in 1921 but we cannot find a death for him. All the rest of the family stayed in Melbourne, apart from a few years spent in WA around 1868 to possibly the mid 1870s. I have the Vic deaths to 1985 but I can't find him there. George remarried Sarah Oakley nee Harman and had a daughter, Sarah Selina Adams b 1886, Kensington, Vic. She married Harold Charles Stone. I do have Georges Will and burial information. MORGAN: Another great great grandfather, John MORGAN b 1829, Derrynoose, Armagh, Ireland d 1880 Essendon. He married Margaret Alice (known as Alice) KELLY in Melbourne in 1858. Alice died 1904 Essendon. They had the Cross Keys Hotel at Essendon from about 1871 and had 6 children. I have found all their children apart from the birth reg and death of one son, Alexander born 1862 (aged 42 yrs on Alice death cert in 1904) Death notice for John Morgan: Morgan - on the 24th Inst, at his residence Cross Keys Hotel Moonee Ponds, Mr. John Morgan aged 48 years. New Zealand and Gippsland papers please copy Would the last sentence mean he has family in NZ and Gippsland? I have only found one possible sister for him in Australia (same parents listed on her death cert) she is Margaret Morgan who married Thomas Gaffney. She died in Collingwood in 1912. I searched a NZ newspaper archives site http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast for a death notice for John but with no luck. I don't know of a Gippsland paper in 1880. >From IFHF Irish records John may have a brother Pat and sister Bridget as well but I haven't found anything on them. KELLY: Margaret Alice KELLY, wife of above John Morgan had 3 brothers that I know of. Michael died 1898 being only 6 months in Victoria from Kimberley South Africa. He left hundreds of pounds to family members. One being "his niece, Alice Kelly of Melrose street, North Melbourne, daughter of his brother John." Perhaps John had already died? The other brother was William Kelly who Michael says is a speculator in WA mining but no address was given for William. Neither Alice nor Michaels death certs mention parents names but Alice marriage to John Morgan states her parents as Cornelius Kelly, farmer and Mary Mologhny.. I have no clue as to how to find her brothers John and William Her death cert 1904 states she was 52 years in Victoria. I can't get to the Public Records Office to look at passenger lists. Hi Everyone, Cecilia (Celia) Ellen HADAWAY and her two children, Hilda Ellen HADAWAY born 1903 in England & Harold Edward HADAWAY born 1909 in England travelled to Hobart Tasmania February 1914 on the ship ‘Alfred’. Here we think they met up with husband/father Henry (Harry) John HADAWAY whom it was thought was in the British army but we are not sure on that. On the 17 May 1914 Celia, Hilda & Harold HADAWAY (All British) left Hobart for Melbourne on the ship Maitai. Also on board was Mr Thomas O'BRIEN, age 34. A passport was issued by Government House Melbourne, Victoria on 14th September 1916 where it states endorsements as travelling to England under the name of Mrs Cecilia Ellen O'Brien wife of Thomas O'Brien and two children named as Hilda Ellen 11 yrs and Harold Edward 8yrs. The passport was valid for two years and shows no renewals, so we can only assume they travelled to the UK not long after issue. We can find no divorce for Henry John & Celia HADAWAY in Tasmania or the UK. Can anyone help us with with information that would lead us to their divorce, Celia’s marriage to Thomas O’BRIEN and their departure details to the UK? Best Wishes,Derek
Hi Maxine, I am not at all sure if this is the right one but a birth in the name Edward Frank WINFIELD was registered in 1881 at Horsham - parents Joseph John WINFIELD and Ellen Pricilla ROGERS. Reg.
