Hi listers, can some kind soul with interstate BDM's do a lookup for me please? I'm seeking the marriage of Joseph JACKSON and Jane Isabella MITCHELL, around 1889. This marriage could not be found in Vic, so now the hunt starts interstate. Their first child arrived in 1889 in Collingwood, Melb, but the marriage could be long before or long after, if at all!!!! Any help greatly appreciated. Robyn of Geelong.
Hi Cathy Don't know what you have to dial to get your country's international dialing, but once there, country code is 61 - so you would need 61 and area cod 3 (drop the 0) and then the number. Check for yourself though - www.whitepages.com.au is for the whole of Australia. You will have to search by main city area and the rest of the state, state by state. Hi I've been searching for some living relatives as well: John Alfred Hewitt, born 8 April 1942, and for his sister Elaine Anne Hewitt, 19 February 1945. They were both born in Hove, East Sussex, (Brighton?) England. Their father was John Ellis Hewitt and mother was Betty Augusta Mayston. Betty remarried to Tom Clements about mid 1952 and became Betty Clements and they all then may have moved to Australia or New Zealand (rumours). Any suggestions on where to start without knowing a county or even a country? John Cathy, The Herald Sun, in Melbourne has a page desperately seeking. you can email them and have it put in I did this and got a good response. www.heraldsun.com.au good luck, June ----- Original Message ----- From: "cathy madelin" <cathy.madelin@btinternet.com> To: <AUS-MELBOURNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 6:52 AM Subject: [AUS-MELB] Clark - Living relative >Hi > >Any idea how I could find a living relative? > >His name is MICHAEL JOHN PAUL PICTON CLARK born Lahore 1945 > >Last known address Pascoe Vale, Melbourne. > >Is there an electoral roll available like in the UK? >Any suggestions? > >Many thanks > >Cathy > >North Devon, England > _________________________________________________________________ Take charge with a pop-up guard built on patented Microsoft® SmartScreen Technology http://join.msn.com/?pgmarket=en-ca&page=byoa/prem&xAPID=1994&DI=1034&SU=http://hotmail.com/enca&HL=Market_MSNIS_Taglines Start enjoying all the benefits of MSN® Premium right now and get the first two months FREE*.

Hi Any idea how I could find a living relative? His name is MICHAEL JOHN PAUL PICTON CLARK born Lahore 1945 Last known address Pascoe Vale, Melbourne. Is there an electoral roll available like in the UK? Any suggestions? Many thanks Cathy North Devon, England
Now here's what I think it all is! but again it's only my idea!. "Mary Burdett" could have been the Sister of Benjamin Deane Jackson. JACKSON FAMILY GRAVE EE Grave 1165 Church of England Benjamin Deane Jackson was buried on the 2/2/1873 then on the 7th of March 1876, Esther Jackson aged 9 years, the daughter of Benjamin Jackson was also buried in the family gave, then on the 2/th of September 1882 Louise JACKSON aged 22 years was also buried in the family grave, then on the 10th of December 1895 John the son of Benjamin Jackson was also buried in the family grave, and then last on the 8th of June 1896, Mary Burdett, wife of William Burdett was buried by Joseph Jackson from Johnston Street Fitzroy, occupation was a cigar maker. The details non Mary Burdett aged 66 years buried on the 6th of June 1896 are with Benjamin Deane Jackson is that she lived at Johnston Street, Fitzroy, was the Wife of William W. BURDETT died from CHRONIC BRONCHITIS. William died at Alfred Hospital, his occupation was a labourer, he was born in Northampton. Looks that Mary was the owner of the grave from the time she buried he husband Benjamin Deane Jackson, but why the name change has got me puzzled, seem the only way to find out would be to do another search state by state for a marriage of Burdett to a Jackson? Which would have to be sometime after 1873 and before 8/6/1896. Or find out who this Joseph Jackson was? I'll do a search and see if I can find any births in the Jackson name for you? Hi Carmel, > Why not ask how they come to keep selling the same item. I did and there was no response to that question. I certainly wouldn't pay more than about half price for them. Ever the cynic, I did wonder if they had someone in another country buying for them and sending the cds to Oz for resale on ebay. To make a legitimate claim that they are used you would, basically, only have to unwap them and put them in the computer once!! Actually I was under the strong impression that the LDS used to sell these cds and was sure I had seen them for sale on their website earlier last year at $30 US, but having checked recently the only thing for sale now is the Australian Vital Records Index at $9 US. My sister in law in NZ was going to buy them for me as a present because we're not lucky enough to be able to buy from Oz. Hi Tom, >Are they the same CDs, or different ones to >the earlier ones, there are 6 CDs making up the >total set. > > As far as I can see they are the originals but used copies. But now you've asked the question, is there more than one version of these cds? There are photographs of the cd covers and they certainly look legit. The ads say that the minimum operating system required is 98 or higher, but as the cds were produced a while ago I did wonder if they would work on Windows XP and that's maybe why they were being sold. I also asked one seller why they were selling their cds as I can't imagine any genie wanting to sell them. The reply was that they had finished completely with genealogy and were selling the lot!!! True possibly but I can't imagine that happening to myself! Hi John, >I have asked the seller, if these CD's work on Digger. They are used, as >described on ebay > . >I await their reply > > Perhaps you could let me know. Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. Will let you know if I ever buy one and it turns out to be legit. Regards, Jan.
