Hi all, I found a relative Thomas ELLIS d: 1897 Dunolly #1413 on the cd. Sydney inquests films basically have name, place, date, assets available and coroner's verdict. Could SKS who has viewed the original source please advise me what else would be found? Many thanks. Michele in Sydney
Hello I have just joined this list and my research is mainly Allsop, Handley and McInerney and I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is also researching these names. I have a query which I hope sks will help me with. I have been trying to find death/funeral notices for ancestors mainly in the 1960's, and 1970's but don't seem to be able to find them. I have looked in the Age and the Herald Sun at the Sydney State Library and was wondering if there was another newspaper around these times that I have overlooked. I have approx 30 people. Many thanks, Sandra
Hello folks, Does anyone have on their bookshelf a history of the Donnybrook/Kalkallo area? I'm looking for some information about the Presbyterian School there, in particular anything about a James Robertson who may have been a teacher there. It's a local history enquiry, not a family history, so I don't have full family history background. James Robertson and wife Emma Gill had a child at Donnybrook in 1856, their previous child having been born in Essendon in 1855. There was a James Robertson who had been a teacher in the Presbyterian School in Essendon in 1854-55, and I'm wondering whether the James Robertson who married Emma Gill was in fact the school teacher? (There were an awful lot of James Robertsons in Essendon at the time, and it's hard to distinguish between them all.) If there was a schoolteacher called James Robertson in Donnybrook, it would tend to confirm which James Robertson taught in Essendon. Best wishes, Lenore Frost Essendon, Vic Photo Rescue? Jan An idea here may be to leave blank pages at the end for people to paste or write in details for their own use, handy if they want to pass it on to future generations. Hi Lenore and thanks for your response. I have been stewing over this dilemma for weeks now and still toss from one view to the other. I do like your suggestion, though, of maybe using a cut off date - might go down that road. Thanks again, Jan.

Hello listers, The Melbourne Unemployed web site has been updated. Please have a look for your relatives. If you find a person of interest, remember to click on their name to see the file notes. Even if I don't have BDMs for a person I may have details such as " last worked as a butcher in Maitland, NSW" or "last worked on railways at Warracknabeal". Family details such as "children all girls" or "eldest child a boy aged 9 years" may also appear. If you find a relative I'd be happy to exchange info. http://home.primusonline.com.au/jennyc/Melbourne/ best wishes, Jenny Melbourne's Unemployed in the 1890s http://home.primusonline.com.au/jennyc/Melbourne/
Hi other genies, I haven't put a request on for some time and was hoping that someone could help me with this one. I was seaching the Bendigo Cemetery Trust site this morning and found a Jessie May Dean dying on 29/11/1993, the cemetery is White Hills Cemetery. Could some kind sole do a paper lookup for me, I not sure if it would be in the Bendigo area or the Melbourne papers. Any other suggestions of where else to look would be helpfull also. Thanks in advance. Regards Maxine South Oz

Actually, on a second look, it would be Tarrayoukyan, which is around Coleraine, I say this because one was born at Chetwynd which is is the same area. There are a number of Tarr's when you look, and I was naughty in not looking properly as Traralgon in trar, or something like that. It is possible that this couple may have gone over to SA. Hi All, This is a request for a friend who isn't on the internet. Looking for the Death of Rupert Benjamin Burns. According to his Marriage Cert: he signed his name Benjamin Burns but have been told his real name was Rupert Benjamin he would have died mid to late 1800's wife name was Rosetta nee Neave. Regards Carol
Hi Jan, It is a vexed issue allright, and what you can do legally may be different from what you might do ethically. Publishing details only of the deceased doesn't necessarily solve the dilemma. For instance, my mother-in-law is deceased, but if someone was to publish details, such as her maiden name, it could create problems of confidentiality for her four living children, who are asked for "Mother's Maiden name" when filling in passport applications and banking details. It really isn't highly desirable to share that information with a few million Australians. Because you are being responsible with the information, and only printing a small number of copies doesn't mean that some other gung ho member of the family won't enter all the details available in your book onto a genie program and publish it on the net. Once it is out there it is out there forever and you can't call it back. So for myself, I think I would be drawing a line under the family history at a far distant point, say 100 or 75 years, and publish nothing later. You keep all the other stuff in a file and leave it to your desendants. I too collected may many details of a extended family tree years ago, but the informaion was given to me in complete ignorance of the coming armageddon of internet. Giving me the information under those circumstances I wouldn't consider covering present day circumstances. I won't be publishing it. I am also not passing on information to other people that I wouldn't publish myself, or about myself. Best wishes, Lenore >Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2006 18:05:27 +1100 >From: Jan <janealogy@westnet.com.au> >I am on the verge of publishing my family history and over the years (as >have all of us) collected the birth, marriage, death, Will, education, >employment, divorce and adoption information, not to mention one or two >"secrets", of all my relatives. Hello everyone, I know it's been asked before (but I didn't need it then). How do I order a marriage certificate from Vic - a marriage in 1852, Mary "MacLEHONEY" m. Richard WRENCH. Mary also recorded as "McAlhoney" (Irish famine orphan to Port Phillip in 1850 15yr old). And many other close spellings, probably proper spelling is MacElhoney or similar. (Richard Wrench died 1852). I previously asked a long time ago for a look-up of Mary's children with JAMES KENNEDY. (none found, first would've been about 1856/57 ... Alice). It seems Mary and James Kennedy didn't marry, SKS also did a look-up for this, plus Mary later married as Mary Wrench to John McLeish in 1881 NSW after she split from James Kennedy. I don't know if Mary would've had children with Richard Wrench, there are two children who seemed to have died young (one male & one female), probably in Vic before they all moved to NSW about 1869. Would SKS see if there are any children born to Mary under McELHONEY (or similar) or WRENCH. Also if there are any children's deaths under McELHONEY (or close), WRENCH or KENNEDY ? These are the children I have sorted out so far (plus the 2 deceased) ? any born before Alice but died young. Alice born about 1857 Francis ~1860 James ~ 1863 ? a male William ~1866 to 1869 (may have been born in NSW) Charles, probable last child born NSW 1871. I haven't been able to find anything on Alice (Kennedy), so maybe she lived under a different surname? Thankyou in advance for your help, Lyn in NSW
Hello Queens Parade is a very long road. You may need to be specific in what suburb of Queens Road it is on. It is located closed to the actual city of Melbourne, running through several suburbs. I drove past 170 Queens Parade in Clifton Hill. If this is what you are looking for then this location is sitauted on a corner, it is an electrical store.. but it looks like it may have once been a pub or a hotel. Cheers from Maria Melbourne, Victoria, Australia On 3/5/06, Carmel M Reynen <fcfibre1@bigpond.com> wrote: > > Can anyone tell me off hand if there is a hotel still standing at 170 > Queens Parade or what is there now. > Carmel > > > ==== AUS-MELBOURNE Mailing List ==== > Hey have you updated your AntiVirus program lately ? ? > Is your AVG continuously activated while online ? ? > Does your AVG continue to check each and every email as it is down loaded > ? ? > Does your AV continue to check every Website you inter into ? ? > Better to be safe than sorry . . . let HouseCall check out your system > FREE ! > http://housecall.antivirus.com/. > other sites you might want to check out . . . > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifflamere/Aid/AID-VirusProtect.htm > -this one mentioned in Missing Links Vol. 5 No. 44 > http://antivirus.cai.com/ > - this one was mentioned on the Listowner List > http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.cfm > > ============================== > New!
