Ernene Is it possible that there was a second marriage here somewhere. I had the same thing with my ggrandparents where half the children were registered to Maria Nicol the others to Maria Byron. As her married name was not exactly common it had me puzzled as how this man seem to have two partners by the name of Maria. it turned out Maria had been reared by a stepfather Byron, but her natural father was Nicol, hence two maiden names. It could also be a mispronunciation, if Margaret was illiterate, she may not have realised they had written her mother's name down incorrectly.
