Hi Colleen, William Henry DOYLE may have been on both the ship's list when it left ENGLAND and when it arrived here but he may have died at sea. I have done some work for a gentleman in ENGLAND who had a family come to AUSTRALIA. The father died aboard ship two months into the voyage and was buried at sea. This gentleman has all of the data relating to the death / sea burial etc. and yes his ancestor's name is on both the ship's list out of ENGLAND and it also appears on the ship's list when it arrived in VICTORIA; in fact his name is listed on the VIC. PRO Immigration site along with the rest of his family who did survive the voyage. Do John & Eliza Bridget DOYLE nee O'NEIL's death certificates state whether William Henry was still alive when they died (or had other children born in AUSTRALIA) or is he listed as being dead? Hello Carmel No, there was not a second marriage. I wondered that as well but Mary Ann Russell (nee O'Grady") was buried as Mary Ann Russell, died in Victoria on 15th July 1910 as a pensioner and is buried at Boroondoora Cemetery Kew. I have never been able to find out what happened to James Russell. She is not buried as a widow, he must have disappeared. There was also a son Frederick b. 1866 at Madmans Gully, Beechworth who I cannot find any further information for. Also Margaret and Susan (twins)were their last children. I worded my message incorrectly. The twins are sisters to my great grandfather Michael Russell, Margaret was not Michael's twin. Incidentally Michael Russell was born as RUSSEL. Thank you for your reply, Best Wishes Ernene ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carmel M Reynen" <fcfibre1@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-MELBOURNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2006 1:24 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-MELB] Look up birth please Russell, Victoria > Ernene > Is it possible that there was a second marriage here somewhere. Can't find any more children to either of the "odd" sets of parents either. You can get in contact off the list if you wish, need more look ups - this may be pretty boring for others unless they have some suggestions about what is going on. That first onewho died born shortly after marriage, I think is thers and the mother's previous surname is "wrong" - may be she was marreid before and Meagher and Hassett however you want to spell it are her previous married name and maiden name.. Butif so, nothing obvious on the index in Victoria. Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has access to the electoral rolls in Victoria. I'm chasing Edward Byron Hassall who was on the QLD electoral roll in 1903 but not on the QLD 1913 e.r. His family moved to Melbourne after that year and I cannot find his death certificate anywhere. Just wondered if he was on an electoral roll in Vic between 1903 and 1916. I think he must have been dead by 1916 because his son enlisted for WW1 and the sister is listed as next of kin. Kind regards Maureen, Sydney
