I believe in the 19th Century, several vessels were used as prison hulks in Port Phillip. At various times, these were the "Sacramento", "Success", "President", and possibly others. There were Prison Hulks moored off Williamstown and I think at least one old naval vessel used as a reformatory or training ship for boys. Hi all, I am looking for a lookup on the 1899 Referendum as when I was there on Thursday last it was been use and I couldn't get to see it before I left. Looking for John or James REES in the Ballarat and surrounding areas. Many thanks for your assistance. Michele in Sydney
Seeking descendants of Albert George Pitcher. arrived here from U.K (Norfolk) probably before WW1. He had a brother Sydney Pitcher who was wounded at Gallipoli. Eric.
I can check the 1856 & 1899 Rolls next Wednesday at the State Library. However they will not have women listed and the 1856 probably only has men with property. The 1903 Roll will have men & women 21 years and over. But I would need to know the district. Hi All, Having read this email I was wondering if SKS had access to this Victorian Roll of 1856 at all? Depending on when it was taken would depend of Harriet POWER (nee BARDENS) was still alive. And if possible could a lookup be on her husband, Austin POWER (39), daughter Justina (11), and sons Austin (9) and Alfred (6). Don't know if I would be lucky enough to find them in the 1899 Referendum eh....or 1903 Roll. I have been given a site that says Justina married in Dunedin, NZ but they state their Justina was in Bendigo in 1849...five years before we see mine arrive in Melbourne...and yet she has the same parents as mine...slight spelling mistake in Harriet's maiden name.
