Hi, I'd like to add to this if I may, N Hill could also be Notting Hill which is out near Oakleigh on the Ferntree Gully Road use to be a lot of market garden out that way including Ilford Films at one stage, as the way it was abbreviated I don't think it would be Nhill? but I could be wrong, who knows. Hello Ron. From ''Australia Places'' found on Google: ''Gobur, a farming locality and former township, is 97 km. north-east of Melbourne and 26 km. north of Alexandra. The name comes from Gobur Creek and the Gobur pastoral run (c.1845) occupied by Henry Godfrey. Gobur is possibly a corruption of an Aboriginal word for Kookaburra. Henry Godfrey is commemorated in the name of the creek on which the township was situated.'' I wonder if your other place is NHILL? If so, also from Google: Nhill Nhill is a small town of some 2000 people on the Western Highway, 40 km west of Dimboola and 374 km north-west of Melbourne (halfway to Adelaide). It promotes itself as a centre of merino grazing although it is very much a part of the Wimmera wheatbelt. In fact the large grain silo in the centre of town is reputedly the largest single-bin silo in the Southern Hemisphere. There is also a poultry farm and a flour mill. Hi Josie, No sign of a marriage of Margaret DICK to Henry STRIKE but lots of kids. When you say Margaret was born in Brunswick circa 1837 do you mean Brunswick Canada or some other place as Brunswick Melbourne, wasn't named in 1837. I wish first of all to say a very very big thankyou to everyone who replied re Ronald James Newman. Sadly I couldn't see the marriage between him and Lois Cadden. I am wondering if the surname Cadden appears in any of the indexes. Maybe she goes by Jean instead of Lois. I am really unsure even my friend knows much about her mothers side. Once again a huge Thankyou to all. Kindest regards Leanne Baulch Canberra
Good Evening All, Am wondering if anyone is researching William Frances COOKE who married Josephine MCCREA in Victoria in 1874 and had as far as I am aware two children - Arabella Mary b. Melbourne 1875 and Frances Elinor b. BRAN (could be Branch, Brandy, Branjee, Brankeet or Branxholme) 1878. Thank you. Anne Hanson -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
