Hi Anne, Do you have George's death certificate? It should state on his death certificate if he was married or had children. Would save a lot of digging around, if you have his death certificate. :) There are no 'George Mitchinson's having children in Victoria from 1850-1888. There is a George Mitchinson who died in NSW 1890... Registration Number Last Name Given Name(s) Father's Given Name(s) Mother's Given Name(s) District 12610/1890 MITCHINSON GEORGE - THOMAS * UNKNOWN - TOCUMWAL I would be contacting Petra Mitchinson, as she states her husband is a descendant of George, so he must have married or at least had a child with somebody. lol... http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/CUMBERLAND/2006-08/1154628281 'Sarah SCOTT and William MITCHINSON (brother of my husband's great great grandfather George MITCHINSON) were married at St. Mary, Carlisle, on 16 Oct 1852.' This may or may not be your George .... http://tinyurl.com/5jtq2d 'automatic railway-crossing gates, by George Mitchinson, of Woodhaugh, Dunedin' Kind regards, Sherrie. George MITCHINSON was bap. 17 Apr 1831 at St. Mary, Carlisle, He learned the trade of a blacksmith, which apparently he practised until his death. He travelled to Australia on the Miles Barton, arriving in Melbourne on 24 Jul 1853. He stayed in Victoria between 1853 and 1867 when he moved to NSW. His history there has been traced but there has been no luck in tracing him in VIC. Did he marry and have children. Did he go to the goldfields Did he appear in directories. MITCHINSON is the proper spelling, but you also get MITCHISON, MITCHESON, MITCHENSON, even MITCHELSON Any help in tracing him would be a great help. Anne

I now live in South Australia and last year I sent for his birth certificate and had no trouble in obtaining it. Regards. Perle Brooking. Younghusband. S.A.

Hello listers, wanting to find a birth cert for the period of 1924. Went to the Justice site but find that historical only goes up to 1907, and current is from 1925. What happens about the interim years? Kess
Hello List, I have a spare death certificate of this well known Richmond Identity Frank Gwynne Tudor was a Member of Federal Parliament who died in 1922. Anyone with a connection? Marianne
Thank you to all those who answered my queries about John STEPHEN. By using your suggestions, I have solved a few mysteries and have been made aware of some very useful resources held by the State Library in Perth. One further question regarding the Digger - Inquest Index. Victoria 1840 - 1985 - is it possible to access Reference 491? Our library does not appear to hold Cause List Books Police Cases 1859-1888 which was a suggested source - does anyone have easy access to such information???? Cheers Margaret
