    3. You could try the Hamilton Historical society - they used to be in the main street (Gray St) but haven't been there for many years. Don't know if they have an online presence - Google it. Have you tried any Victorian PO directories for the years after his arrival - assuming you have confirmed that via the passenger lists? Maybe online but if not your State Library should have them and your State Genealogy society may have them. 3. Hi Marie If the birth was registered then you should be able to look for it and purchase a copy online from https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria . I think it is about $17 which is cheaper than some states eg SA. Hope this helps Jenni ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marie Cooper" <minbalup@ihug.co.nz> To: <aus-melbourne@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 01, 2010 1:58 PM Subject: [AUS-MELBOURNE] Matthew Willmot >I have the above uncle born St Kilda 1859 the only way to find his full >birth date I guess is to > purchase the birth certificate. 3. I have checked the following source:- Digger - Pioneer Index Victoria 1836-1888 Matthew Willmot - is not listed Matthew Willmott is listed Father: James Mother: Agnes Powes Born in 1859 in Acot Reg no: 19437 I do not know if the above is linked to your family Please beware that there may be mistakes when transcibers record records. Are you able to give me the names of the parents so I can cross reference it. Do you have his date of death - I can check that for you too? Do you know what suburb he lived in?
