I dont have much, but I am sure someone here will be able to point me in the right direction. Annie Clark was born circa 1894 at Booroloola Northern Territory to a Harry Clark. I have no further information as to who her mother was or anything about Harry. (would there have been a marriage?) I have been told there is no birth certificate for Annie because she was part aboriginal.. (Is this correct?) Annie married Eric Erlandson in 1911 at Palmerston and they had five children: 1) Violet Louisa Annie, born 1920 Darwin 2) Elna Annie, born 1911 Darwin. 3) Mabel 4) Irene 5) Allan Violet was the youngest. Eric died in 1939 and his wife I have been told died when Violet was a year old, making it 1921 or thereabouts. I have not been lucky enough to locate a death for Annie, but have Erics. (Would Annie have a death certificate from 1921?) >From the NT Dictionary of Biographys it states about Elna: " When Elna was 10 years olf her mother died and she and her three younger sisters and brother were taken to by the Church of England from Darwin to live in a Salvation Army home in Chelmer, Brisbane. At the age of 14 Elna was sent to work in outback stations in Queensland and she also cooked at a dairy farm at Beaudesert for 15 shillings a week. In 1929 she returned to Darwin on board Marella and stayed with her aunt, Granny Spain, the 'Queen of Darwin'. How do I find about more about their time at Chelmer? Thanks..anything will help.
