    1. RE: [AUS-Koori] Fw: Still Trying
    2. Hi Sheila Have you tried the rootsweb site (www.rootsweb.com) for their Random Acts of Kindness page. Check out the Australia part and someone might have the later versions of the Australian Vitals Index which would cover the years to 1918. This would give you the certificate number at least. Also to save costs I use a Transcription Agency called www.marbract.com you can get all the information at half the cost. Marg Dear People: In August of 1998 I joined Aus-Koori and started my search for my family.. I read with great sadness the tragedy and loss of so many loved ones and the painful history of our people. Perhaps more sadly is the secret kept by family. My mother told me when I was a young woman that her mother was an aboriginal. There seemed to be this great wall of silence. I was never allowed to ask questions or speak of it. I live in the US, which puts me at a very distinct disadvantage to do research. I have tried to find out where to write and who to contact for any information. I have seen clans or tribes mentioned and would like to do research. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you. I have gone to the NSW registry and tried to get some dates. I can't find a middle name to verify anything and the births and deaths are still too new to be able to use the registry.
