Hello Listers, Can Some kind soul help me with the above names: Mary Anne TIDSWELL m Thomas BRINDLEY 1852 place unknown in NSW they had one son Richard J, b 1853, Father Thomas died 1858 Mary Anne TIDSWELL m Alexander DINGWELL 1859 Coonamble [his father died Merri Merri Creek 26.2.1869][ Mother Christina McPHAIL] they had three children: Isobella b Dubbo 1862 m Thomas BLACKLOCK at Coonamble 1880 Emma b Dubbo 1864 m Henry WILLIAMS at Coonamble 1880 Alexander b 1868 Coonabarabran Isobella & Thomas BLACKLOCK are on the 1881 census living in Happy Corner Coonabarabran they area listed having 4 HC males and 5 HC Females in the household. I can only assume HC stands for Half Castes. I have photos of my great grandmother [their daughter Mary Ann Emma Jane BLACKLOCK] b Coonabarabran 1887. Its clear that she is part Aboriginal. I was told Happy Corner was very much an aboriginal area at this time. Can any one confirm this? Mary Ann Emma Jane BLACKLOCK m Francis John TRIBE 1911 Warialda/Coonamble. Alice M 1890 Coonabarabran m Norman T H MILSON Charles W b 1893 Coonabarabran died Glen Innes 1931 Daisy B b 1897 Coonabarabran m Narrabri George A RUTTLEY Arthur Hector b 1905 [he had red hair] m 1926 Eva Georgina ROSS What I want to know is, Do I believe the census, were they both HC or was, one of them was part aboriginal, I can't find any record of birth of either Alexander or Mary Anne TIDSWELL. Is this ring any bells for anybody, PLEASE HELP. Any advice on where to look, would be great. Also these people must have had family. Any cousin out there? I would love to know from what tribe they came, the language etc.. I don't know how to go about finding out!
