    3. Hi Cathy, Wrong part of the country for me. Sounds like you've given yourself a whole pile of extra work. I thank you and hope that one day we can meet. Each year we take a group of students (16-18 yo) to meet Barry Moore for the bush tucker walk behind Wreck Bay and then we show them Murramarang Point. Each time I learn something new. Last year my hubby drove bus and we took our youngest boy who is 8. Barry was fantastic with him. A close friend of mine teaches at Batemans Bay High and lives at Mogo. She is not indigenous but is heavily involved in student welfare and acts as an advocate for many kids. Beth

    1. [AUS-Koori] 1901 NSW Household Collectors Books
    2. Cathy Dunn
    3. The Householder collectors books are records from all households across NSW. They are a great resource for both historians and family history research. There are separate columns for Aboriginal and Chinese families. Head of the household names are given with the number of Male/Females and children. The collectors books are the 901 census for NSW. They also recorded location of churches, building, occupations and businesses. Unfortunately, the only records created under the Census that have survived are the Collectors' Books for household returns. More details from - http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/publications/shortguides/sg7-1901/sg7-2.htm Cathy Dunn name of were done At 10:34 25/01/2002 +1100, you wrote: >Cathy, > >The NSW Household collectors books sounds really interesting, can you tell me >what the purpose of those books were and were they for all NSW Households or >just Aboriginal households? > >Paul > > > > > Cathy Dunn <cathyd@shoalhaven.net.au> wrote: > > > > The CD Rom will most likely show no baptism after 1855 (for NSW) but > > birth > > registrations. - so check with the region churches or historical > > /family > > history to see if they hold the records. > > > > The 1901 NSW Household collectors books will give Aboriginal names > > and > > household numbers. 3. This too was the case for Ulladulla and other areas in the Yuin region. There were camps at Ulladulla, Batemans Bay & Wallaga Lake. 3. The CD Rom will most likely show no baptism after 1855 (for NSW) but birth registrations. - so check with the region churches or historical /family history to see if they hold the records. The 1901 NSW Household collectors books will give Aboriginal names and household numbers. The collectors also did Aboriginal camps. The records are on microfiche at NSW State records and most large libraries. Many family history groups also have purchased the fiche. The records are listed by districts/regions. 1. Re: Re: [AUS-Koori] B Research Interests
    2. Beth, How are you? Travel between Aboriginal groups was common, including over expansive areas for ceremonial and trade etc. You'll find that occasionally from this trade marriage into outside areas may have occurred as did happen with my grandfather, George Dutton who is from Wanjiwalku people of western NSW, now known as the township of Tibooburra. He married in to a family from the Lake Eyre region, known as the Arabuna people. Obviously, however, later on, especially in NSW the Aborigines Welfare Board and previously, Aborigines Protection Boards forced Aboriginal people from their homelands and made them live on Aboriginal reserves that were set up. They would then after several years occupation have to move them out for whatever reason to other missions and reserves. That meant that some family would stay put, whilst others moved onto the new locations. That then split the families into various locations ie North and South Coasts or far West, north West and Sydney, as is the case with my family history.
