    3. Hi Yes i lived there for a few yaers. We lived with john. I took my two year old and my eight week old there to run a trucking company. My children were 18 of the white children that lived in aboriginal comunity. John had many emplyees of the district who were of the darkest aborininal community. Goodooga is very much different to Bourke community. I would think that you would have to go to the phone book to find john. Haven't seem him for nearly 20 years. good luck Kate ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard & Mary Sculthorp" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2002 2:18 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IRISH] CORKERY/WESLEY > Hello, > > It may be the same family. many thanks for the info about John Burke. > Delighted to find someone who has ever heard of Goodooga. > Have you been there? > > How can I get in touch with John Burke? > Mary > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "kate" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, January 07, 2002 7:27 PM > Subject: Re: [AUS-IRISH] CORKERY/WESLEY > > > > I knew a john burke who lived in goodooga and ran a service station and > fuel > > depot. You might try looking him up.I'm sure he is still in the district. > He > > may have some info. > > > > > > Kate Original Message ----- > > From: "Alice Erickson" <[email protected]> > > To: <[email protected]> > > Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2002 3:07 PM > > Subject: [AUS-IRISH] CORKERY/WESLEY > > > > > > > I mailed the list a couple of weeks ago on this one but just for the > Roll > > > Call - > > > > > > CORKERY (and variants) > > > Patrick > > > b ?, Co Cork, IRL > > > d presumably 1896, hospital Dubbo, reg Dubbo family says died in > accident > > at > > > gold mine at Peak Hill, NSW > > > m 1872, Gulgong, NSW > > > Margaret WESLEY > > > b c1850-51, Adare, Co Limerick, IRL > > > d 1890, Culgoa River, reg Brewarrena, 38 yrs. > > > Margaret's d cert says she died and was buried at Bourah Hotel. > Informant > > > her husband Patrick gave Bourah Hotel as his address. 3. Lovely to hear from you. And from someone who actually lived there. We went there three years ago, and the people on both sides of the Birree took us first to the property "Merringina" where john Burke was the manager, who eloped with the 16 year old daughter of Eliza Gaffney, who had the store at dennawan. Shirley from the Museum at Lightning Ridge very kindly sent me a copy of the video made by a teacher at Bre school, who took a crowd of kids to Dennawan for the day, and had talks from a couple of the old aboriginal men there. it is lovely. perhaps your children were among the kids there? I took photos of what remains of Eliza's old "shop" and "house", hung from a pole between two forked trees. Thanks again. mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "kate" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2002 7:08 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IRISH] CORKERY/WESLEY > Hi > Yes i lived there for a few yaers.
