I would be interested in hearing from anyone with connection to: Thomas McGUIRE, born c 1823 Kilglass, Ireland married Mary MELIA (1820-1899) The two counties of Roscommon and Longford both contain parishes named Kilglass. Nothing is known of his life until 16 Aug 1839 when he joined the 99th Regiment while it was stationed in Ireland at Kilkenny & Dublin. (The 99th Regiment wore red uniforms with yellow lapels - Red-coats). Regimental # 1261. Age - about 17 yrs. November 1841 - regiment commenced the process of transfer to NSW by moving to Clapham to await embarkation on the "JOHN BREWER" which departed Sheerness in December 1841 and arrived Sydney on 25 April 1842 via Van Diemen's Land (9-16 April 1842), and Newcastle (19-23 April 1842). (Four women were on board). His name appears on the Moreton Bay Muster Roll for the end of May 1842. I know he had two daughters before his death on 11Jan1853 at Woodford, Qld, Aust. His widow Mary remarried Robert WORLEY who died in 1882. She moved to Esk/Moore area and raised her grandchildren after the death of her eldest daughter in 1884.
