    1. [AUS-IRISH] Seeking descendents of the Stewart family
    2. James Desmond Skelly
    3. I am endeavouring to track down some living descendents of the sons of George Stewart and Mary Anne Irwin. It was hoped if I could make some contact it might help find a record of birth of their sister Mary Anne Stewart who is my wife's grandmother. She is thought to have been born about 1871. The closest I have got is obtaining a copy of the birth certificate of an unnamed female whose parents are George Stewart and Anne Irwin. Date of birth of unnamed female was April 1, 1873. On this certificate there is mention of further issue living - Mary Anne aged 2 years, which would make her birth about 1871 and it looks like this birth was probably not registered. Details of Mary Anne's brothers are as follows:- Edward Walter Stewart born April 13, 1875. George Gilchrist Stewart born August 18, 1877. Charles Martin Stewart born September 15, 1882. Donald Andrew Stewart born October 24, 1884. James Thompson Stewart born April 30, 1880. Hector Arthur Stewart born March 12, 1887. It is believed that many of these families lived around Moree, Inverell, Warialda and that general area of northern NSW. Any clues would be appreciated. Des Skelly.

    3. Des, To contact your" living descendants", it might be worth looking up the Telephone Directory NO1Y. This covers a number of towns that you have mentioned. It is probable that the family of Stewarts living in the village of DELUNGRA are descendants of GEORGE C. STEWART. Best Wishes RUSSELLEB. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Desmond Skelly" <deskelly@optusnet.com.au> To: <AUS-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 9:29 PM Subject: [AUS-IRISH] Seeking descendents of the Stewart family > I am endeavouring to track down some living descendents of the sons of > George Stewart and Mary Anne Irwin. 3. Des, I forgot to mention, a Bicentennial book was published about DELUNGRA and District during 1988, entitled "WEEDS AND WATERHOLES'. If you wish to borrow it on Interlibrary Loan it is ISBN 0731628225. Page 100 has information on the thirteen children of George Gilchrist STEWART.
