Hi Brian, Your email passed through the message board. What is a 'Palatine family'? The mail to the address you gave does not get delivered. I have a name FITZJAMES which may be a 'Palatine' name. Can you tell me anything about the Fitzjames name please. Philip. Auckland. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Rhynehart" <brianr@cyberone.com.au> To: <AUS-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2003 2:21 AM Subject: [AUS-IRISH] Cheryl Heavener's enquiry. > Cheryl, > > Heavener is a Palatine family. Philip, Very sorry to you and to Cheryl, a simple typo, the address should have read IRL-PALATINE-L@rootsweb.com one of the many problems associated with reading the mail from several lists after 1 AM. A quick history lesson: In the early 1700s several parties of Germans from the Palatine region emigrated, via Holland, to England. Many of them subsequently went to Ireland, settling in several areas in the South East. The Irish Palatine Association has a web site at http://www.irishpalatines.org with information about their research and information associated with other resources.
