    3. In 1845 the Queen's College Act established three Queen's Colleges at Cork, Galway and Belfast. These Colleges were opened for teaching in 1849, and in 1850 were linked together in the Queen's University of Ireland, established by Royal Charter. Perhaps there is more at PRONI on these or an archive somewhere CARA ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----

    3. Thank you for the information. The only information I have is from his marriage certificate and from my grandmother who knew him. He was 30 years old when he married in Victoria in 1861 and gave his birth place as County Clare. thanks Carol - Original Message ----- From: "Cara_Links" <cracker@hotkey.net.au> To: <AUS-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 15, 2003 10:36 PM Subject: [AUS-IRISH] irish education > In 1845 the Queen's College Act established three Queen's Colleges at Cork, > Galway and Belfast.
