I am descended from John Martin KEARNEY and his wife, Honorah LYONS who immigrated to Queensland in 1860s with several of his adult family, with other menebers coming later, and others dying trying to get here. It seems that some of the children suffered from that Limerick curse, consumption. John Martin and family lived in Rockhampton and fanned out from there. The family had a road building business in Rockhampton and prospered. I am interested in hearing from any other descendants. Margaret Szalay Sydney mszalay@bigpond.net.au
Hi Margaret, Do you know where your Hanora Lyons originated from? My Lyons that I am currently tracking are from Cork then to Australia.. They show up in Victoria before going to New Zealand and then back to Victoria, following the gold rush trail. My Lyons family that came out to Australia were here in the 1860's but not sure when they orginally came out.
