Hi List, I'm researching my mother's paternal family tree, the Brown(e)s, it seems they dropped the E when they arrived in Australia. Though some of the next generation added it back. My Patrick Browne was born in County Cork (where is a mystery, though Fermoy is a possibility) approximately 1840, his parents were Patrick Browne and Bridget Kiley. On the 25th May 1867 he married Catherine McCarthy at St Patrick's Church, Belfast (Port Fairy) Victoria. Catherine was born approx 1838 in County Clare, her parents were Daniel McCarthy and Mary Devereaux. They lived at Koroit, Victoria. Patrick was killed on the 5th May 1909, and Catherine died in July 1914; they are buried together with 2 of their sons (William and Daniel) in Tower Hill Cemetery. Their other children were Patrick, John and Mary. Patrick and John both had large families, while Mary had two sons. According to family history Mary (m. James Maloney) ran/owned the Killarney Hotel, Victoria, around 1912. If anyone has any connections to the above, I'd love to hear from you. If anyone has any idea of where in Co. Cork Patrick may have come from, or anyone can help with when they arrived in Australia, would also love to hear from you. Regards Tricia
