    3. Thanks Jim, I am very lucky to have all the descendents of Mary Cronin and John O'Donoghue pegged right down to my latest grandson born this year. I am lucky I have a full set of bdm certs down from them and know all decendents. I am missing all knowledge of any brothers/ sisters and bdm of parents regards Peter O'D ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Blair" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 26, 2001 3:33 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IRISH] O'Donoghue Cronin > Mary anne O'Donohue M. 1. [AUS-IRISH] A West Limerick proposal

    3. Hi All We are currently tossing this idea around to see what kind of reaction we get before deciding if it's worth pursuing. At this stage it is a query. I'm making no commitment. I want to know how many people would be interested and it would be taken from there, hopefully with a team of us. If we were to organise a Gathering of all those whose ancestors left West Limerick for the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and wherever else - in about 2 years time at a suitable venue in West Limerick - perhaps a week or a weekend of activities and celebrations, who would be interested in attending? There are thousands of us out there it seems to me. We are not looking for a firm commitment - just an expression of interest. The boundaries would be those set out by Kate Press and Val Thompson in their book - "West Limerick Families Abroad" - That area of County Limerick bounded on the north by the Shannon River, on the west by County Kerry, on the east by the Deel River and on the south by the area around Newcastle West. By the same token, there is no way anyone who wanted to be a part of this would be excluded - the more the merrier. I have no idea how the descendants of the people who never left would take this. They might be bemused, they might be disinterested or they might join us and make the occasion one that none of us will ever forget. To have a couple of contact people at that end would be fantastic. Kate Press tells me I have rocks in my head. Pat Connors (Limerick List) tells me to bite the bullet and run with it. I think that we would just have a ball. And all big things start with a dream. So tell me what you think and if you'd come. I was going to say reply to me privately and I'll post back a summary of the responses, but I suspect many of you might enjoy reading the responses on the List. I'll leave that adjudication to the Listowner. Back I go behind bars to take my medication!!!!!! Best wishes Beryl Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia
