    2. Peter and Shauna Madden
    3. Dear List, I spent some time at SAGS in Sydney on saturday, and looked at the series of MICROFICHE sized "Griffiths" Maps. Their set was produced by the "Archives Publiques Canada". Fair enough. But after a one-hour internet search, I cannot find a site to even determine the availability of original maps. Has anyone found such a site? Can one buy map-sized maps from them ?? I would appreciate any clues on this! Peter.

    1. [AUS-IRISH] Blayney Family NSW
    2. Courtney Pedersen
    3. Hello everyone, I am currently researching the Blayney (or Blaney) family (John and Margery Blayney and 6 children), who arrived in Australia on the 'Bloomer' in 1853 and ended up on Ross Farm near Narrabri NSW. John Blayney states in his will that he took his first selection in 1868. I would be very keen to hear from anyone who has this family crop up in their research. And also any opinions on what Irish families generally did to keep body and soul together before they acquired land! -- Courtney Pedersen Brisbane AUSTRALIA

    3. Hi All I advised Lisa 'off-list' of Joy Murrin www.joymurrin.com.au but I am not associated with her at all. The Vital Records are by the LDS and not available in Australia as stated below. However, NSW also has three CD's available: NSW Pioneer Index - BDM until 1788-1888 NSW Index - BDM - 1889-1918 and NSW Between the Wars Index - Death & Marriage only - 1919-1945 The data drive in controlled by a DOS program "KAwareF" and is a little difficult to navigate until you get the hang of it. Certainly not a window based program although it still works on any of the windows computers. (Do not know about other operating systems such as LINEX(?) and AppleMac) AND no, I do not know where they can be obtained from. 3. Hi: Robert C.Saffy: Thanks for replying to my query re Redden. I am not sure if this is my Daniel. The Daniel I am looking for has parents named Daniel Reddan/Redden and Ann Hough. I found a Daniel Redden died in Kyneton, Victoria 1873. Left a Will, no mention of wife or children. Administrator was a John Howe. I have the four CD set, but have to wait for my son-in-law to come for a visit. I have a new XP and I cannot figure how to install. The directions do not work. Hopefully this will help me . I do thank you very much for all your references. And will keep this with my file in case this turns out to be him. Bev Enz

    3. Renae, You can search NSW BDM site in 10 year spans [eg Birth Joe Bloggs 1880 to 1890] at www.bdm.nsw.gov.au . Be aware there are privacy time limits on searches [also applying to CD's] of 1905 for births, 50 years on marriages [Currently to June 1953] and 30 years on deaths [June 1973] You can purchase certificates for more recent events for dead rello's but you have to get your initial info from another source e.g. birth notice in a newspaper, headstone etc. NSW BDM site has the info on buying the CD set but the price is scary. Some libraries keep sets and you can do searches there. LDS [Latter Day Saints] church has resource centers in various areas, keep great records and have researchers on hand who are very helpful in guiding you in your quest. I have found no attempt to convert anyone aside from posters in research rooms. All help is free except if they have to get copies of info from Utah and then it is only a nominal fee. All help is non profit as it is part of the religion to be aware of dead rello's. You can also search at www.familysearch.org the LDS web site. regards Peter Sydney

Is it an Irish birth death or marriage certificate that you wish to know about or is it a New South Wales certificate, Irish certificates are available from GRO in Dublin .............. The Vital records for births and marriages ends at 1864 unless a later edition holds more on the CD's so what year are you referring to and where abouts are you seeking information from or who about.
