Hi Courtney. I have lots of relatives O'Shea's but don't know of the one you mention. Mine were from Ipswich way whilst I know there were brisbane families unrelated. I know someone who was related to O'Shea's at Red Hill round that time. Don't know if there's any connection but I'll ask sometime. Good luck in your search. I am thinking of upgrading from Windows 98 to XP. The retailer has sowed some doubts that PAF5.2 would run on XP. Are there any listers satisfactorily running PAF5.2 on XP? Des Skelly.

Margaret, do you know any more about Bridget O'Brien from Limerick. My husband's family were O'Brien's from Limerick. Mary -----Original Message----- From: Margaret Szalay [mailto:mszalay@bigpond.net.au] Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2003 7:16 AM To: AUS-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-IRISH] KEARNEY (Limerick), O'BRIEN (Limerick) & McGUIRK (Cavan) I am researching the KEARNEY name from Limerick - town: Abington. My ancestor, John Martin KEARNEY was born in c.1808 in Abington, and married Honorah LYONS in Abington c.1829. He was a stonemason by profession/trade. In 1863, the family immigrated to Queensland in Australia, some of the children coming with their parents, some coming later, some with their own wives and children. The children were all born in Abington, Limerick. They were: 1. Martin John Kearney B. 1833 D. 1864 at sea en route to Australia. 2. Michael Kearney B. 1836 D. 1863 in Ireland while preparing to come. 3. William Kearney B. 1838 D. 1875 in Queensland. 4. Thomas Kearney B. 1841 D. 1880 in Queensland (married with 6 chn) 5. Mary Catherine Kearney B. 1846 D. 1903 in Qld (married with 5 chn) 6. James Kearney B. c.1848 D. 1874 in Qld 7. Bridget Mary Kearney B. 1851 D. 1938 in Qld (married with 8 chn) I have often wondered how great an influence the Potato famine of 1848 had on the family's decision to immigrate 15 years later. It is obvious that their children did not enjoy good health with the majority dying young. I am descended from the first son, Martin John. His widow, Bridget O'BRIEN from Limerick, arrived in Queensland in 1864 with two children, Mary and John Francis. A baby had also died on the voyage out. My G. grandparents, John Francis Kearney (1860-1899)(their son) and Lillian Cecilia McGuirk (1863-1904) from Cavan, Co. Cavan, were married in Queensland in 1883; they had 4 children, only one of whom produced grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Does anyone have any information on Patrick & Catherine Haven who went to Australia from Ireland (Queens county I believe) around the 1860s. They came over with their daughter Honorah, maybe more children, I don't know. I believe thay settled in Adelaide and Patrick was a Jeweller. Honorah known as Annie married Guiseppe Valli and they moved to NZ early 1860s. I believe Patrick and Catherine stayed in Australia. Hopefully someone out there has them in their family tree.
