    1. [AUS-IRISH] Bernard O'Mara
    2. James Desmond Skelly
    3. I was wondering if there were any listers out there who may be descended from Bernard O"Mara. Bernard O'Mara is the twin brother of my great-grandmother, Mary Scally/Skelly. The O'Mara family, parents, Hugh and Catherine, and children, Mary, Bernard and Johanna, came to Queensland on the ship "Caroline" in 1853 from Tipperary, Ireland. According to the passenger list, Mary and Bernard were aged 12 years and Johanna aged 10 years. Mary married my great-grandfather, Patrick Scally, at St Patrick's Toowoomba in June 1859. They subsequently took up land in the Crow's Nest, Qld, district. Johanna married Michael Fogarty in Toowoomba in October 1863 and as far as I know they continued to reside in Toowoomba. Unfortunately I have no information on Bernard O'Mara and send this Email in the remote hope I might turn up a connection. I wondered if any lister who has access to a CD rom or microfiche of the Qld Births, Deaths and Marriages, would kindly do a lookup for me for a possible marriage and his death. I would, indeed, appreciate such help. Des Skelly.

    3. Hi I am trying to trace my late father's half-sister. She was born Marion HEAGERTY [daughter of Thomas John HEAGERTY & Sarah RAINBOW] in 1921 in North Melbourne. She married Thomas? REED/READ/READE/REID - date unknown. They are thought to have had 3 chn. She was last heard of by family members 10 years ago on the occasion of her 70th birthday. She was living in a Melbourne suburb then. I would appreciate any help/suggestions in trying to locate her or her descendants. -- Thanks Colleen in Cairns, Queensland. [email protected]

GUNNING, MINAHAN/MINEHAN/MINIHAN - O'BriensBridge, Co. Clare to Victoria. Patrick GUNNING and wife Mary MINAHAN migrated to Melbourne [Emerald Hill] in 1854 with children Patrick, Catherine, Bridget, Hanora & Michael. Their sons Pierce, Thomas & Dennis joined them the following year. Am particularly interested in finding out: What became of Pierce GUNNING More about Dennis GUNNING & his wife Margaret TOOHEY who moved to Sydney where he was an operatic singer at the time of his death in 1894. Margaret's parents Matthew TOOHEY [a publican] and Norah [HALL] also moved to NSW. Am unsure when the moves took place. Catherine GUNNING m. William John MINTY in 1869 in Melbourne. Their son William John MINTY "according to family lore" was a butcher & became a mayor of Coburg - have been unable to verify this. Would like to hear from anyone researching the following names: GUNNING, MINAHAN/MINEHAN/MINIHAN, TOOHEY, MINTY, LYONS, HEAGERTY, CRANNEY, IVERY, McNAMARA. Colleen Wright, Cairns.
