Hello Jan, I have an Ann Carroll, married John Costello about 1858 in Ireland. Don't know where in Ireland. Her daughter Rose Costello married Michael McDonough and they came to Australia c1885. I have never found any of my ggrandmother's siblings in the U.S. Since many Cork families found their way to Australia, I am wondering if anyone traces back to the following family from Kildorrery, Cork. Denis Carroll of Kildorrery Village/Town married Margaret Kennedy of Ballyshonack, Cork, in 1813. Their first children were born before church records were kept, but there was probably an Ellen, Denis, and Peggy since they served as Baptismal sponsors for the children of my ggrandmother. I have a gg aunt who married a Bohan in the Bendigo area of Victoria in 1896. Have details on family members who have researched the Bohan family and will hunt it out and send to you. Hello List, I am looking for a Richard Delaney who was born in Tasmania in 1863 and maybe came to Victoria. There is an interesting Death Index entry of a man whose age at death is close to being what my relative's would have been. The abbreviation of place is MPNA and I have guessed at MEPUNGA near Warrnambool. Would anyone care to comment, please. Yours, Julie in England

Hi All We are currently tossing this idea around to see what kind of reaction we get before deciding if it's worth pursuing. At this stage it is a query. I'm making no commitment. I want to know how many people would be interested and it would be taken from there, hopefully with a team of us. If we were to organise a Gathering of all those whose ancestors left West Limerick for the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and wherever else - in about 2 years time at a suitable venue in West Limerick - perhaps a week or a weekend of activities and celebrations, who would be interested in attending? There are thousands of us out there it seems to me. We are not looking for a firm commitment - just an expression of interest. The boundaries would be those set out by Kate Press and Val Thompson in their book - "West Limerick Families Abroad" - That area of County Limerick bounded on the north by the Shannon River, on the west by County Kerry, on the east by the Deel River and on the south by the area around Newcastle West. By the same token, there is no way anyone who wanted to be a part of this would be excluded - the more the merrier. I have no idea how the descendants of the people who never left would take this. They might be bemused, they might be disinterested or they might join us and make the occasion one that none of us will ever forget. To have a couple of contact people at that end would be fantastic. Kate Press tells me I have rocks in my head. Pat Connors (Limerick List) tells me to bite the bullet and run with it. I think that we would just have a ball. And all big things start with a dream. So tell me what you think and if you'd come. I was going to say reply to me privately and I'll post back a summary of the responses, but I suspect many of you might enjoy reading the responses on the List. I'll leave that adjudication to the Listowner. Back I go behind bars to take my medication!!!!!! Best wishes Beryl Beryl O'Gorman Greensborough Victoria Australia
