    3. Hello Jim, Treely and rooly I will send the dates you asked for when the latest wave of visitors has left the house. Meanwhile, out there at Yass/Jugiong was a Sarah English who married James Barry at St. Mary's Sydney in 1838, and then went to live at Yass in southern NSW. They became bigwigs in the Catholic church there, and appear as witnesses or sponsors for lots of weddings and baptisms, but seem to have had NO contact at all with "my" Lawrence Enmglish and his family, who arrived in Australia at the same time. because all of the many Barry kids were born before 1856, I can get no clues as to sarah's age or parentage, and when she died, no-one knew. Is there anyone "out there" with an interest in the Barry family? 3. Not sure as I really don't have a lot of information on my Quinns. My great grand mother was fanny Quinn daughter of John and Mary Quinn. I am not sure of her mothers maiden name because I have different ones - Mc Moore/mcmmoir on her marriages cert, and Mc cab on her death. Fanny was supposedly born in 1850 and her father was a coachbuilder in Clonmel. any of these names seem familiar ? 3. Lovely to hear from you. And from someone who actually lived there. We went there three years ago, and the people on both sides of the Birree took us first to the property "Merringina" where john Burke was the manager, who eloped with the 16 year old daughter of Eliza Gaffney, who had the store at dennawan. Shirley from the Museum at Lightning Ridge very kindly sent me a copy of the video made by a teacher at Bre school, who took a crowd of kids to Dennawan for the day, and had talks from a couple of the old aboriginal men there. it is lovely. perhaps your children were among the kids there? I took photos of what remains of Eliza's old "shop" and "house", hung from a pole between two forked trees. 1. [AUS-IRISH] Teese
    2. DON MERRITT
    3. I am a descendant of James Fredrick Teese or Tees who was born in 1838 and came to Australia from Donegal (I think) as a young man. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who knows of this name in Ireland Don Merritt

    3. Hi Sandra, Thanks for letting me know. As far as I'm aware my Leahys were from Limerick, although I did hear a family rumour that they may have been from Kilkenny (which seems unlikely at this stage). I can't say I've looked extensively for Leahy web sites at this stage as I have so little information to go on, but perhaps I should have a look when I get the time. Thanks again. 1. [AUS-IRISH] Gallagher/rigney-nolan/connelly-moore/phillis
    2. Peter Robinson
    3. Searching for information on the following families GALLAGHER/RIGNEY in Offaly c.1830s. Maria Gallagher, age 17, married Charles SMITH at Tarraville, Victoria in 1856 giving John Gallagher and Bridget Rigney as her parents and a birthplace which was recorded on the marriage certificate as 'Gillin', King's County. NOLAN/CONNELLY in Galway c. 1830s. Maria Nolan, age 33, married Donald Mc Pherson at Stawell, Victoria in 1864 giving Peter Noland and Bridget Connelly as her parents but just 'Galway' as her birthplace. MOORE/PHILLIS (FELLOWS?) in Antrim c. 1820s. Jane Moore, age 28, married James Anderson at Melbourne, Victoria in 1854 giving Samuel Moore and Elizabeth Phillis as her parents and birthplace as Broughshane, Antrim. James Anderson had been widowed in 1853 and it is possible that Jane was a close relation (cousin perhaps) of his first wife. While the surname Phillis is known in that region of Antrim, it is not common and is occasionally encountered as Fillis. It also appears to be a variant of Fellow(e)s. Any help or suggestions re tracing the above would be appreciated. Peter, the older of the tworobbos @ Bairnsdale, gateway to the mountains, lakes, streams (and remnant forests) of East Gippsland
