Hi Margaret, Unfortunately none of the names you mention has any meaning for me but the surname SZALAY does. I wonder if you are related in some way to an old work-mate of mine, Joe SZALAY who worked with me in the Supply Department of B.M.C. (the British Motor Corporation later to become British Leyland) at Joynton Avenue, Zetland, Sydney around the early 1960's. Joe worked as a Stock Controller & I was a junior in Progress Control. He would have known me as Bob Cleary, a very slim & very tall black haired youth. Joe would have been perhaps been in his mid 30's about that time & I was in my early 20's. I guess you could say we were good without being close friends. Joe was particularly helpful to me in those times with work associated matters & I always regretted not keeping in touch with him after the B.M.C. demise. I don't know if he was having me on but he used to tell a tale about his place of birth being in a village where the castle of Prince Vlad (the model for the Dracula legend) was located. In those parts for all I know, SZALAY might be as common a name as SMITH is in Australia, but yours is only the second occurrence of it that I have encountered so I thought I would ask just to satisfy my curiosity. Hello Bob Saw your message about Hickey in Kilkenny. More for interest and in hope: In 1840, one Harriett Licet/Lysaught/Licett etc. married a Tom Riley (etc.) in Bathurst, and they lived at kelso where he ran an ironically named drinking place called "The House of Content". Harriett was born in Kilkenny, daughter of a Patrick Licet and a Frances Hickey. Since she was married at 17, she was born about 1823. If the name Harriett is a family name, she called her daughters Margaret, Frances,Anne, Mary Ann and Frances.Sons john, William, Patrick, Joseph. Any interest?
