    3. Hello Joanne Thank you for your reply re LAWLESS and I'll hold your details and if ever I find the parents and siblings of Lucy LAWLESS.... I'll check them against your naming pattern at least. Do you know the names of the parents of your John LAWLESS? Are you on the IRL-WICKLOW List. I have had good help by posting my early LYONS and CULLEN, and LAWLESS. 2 good contacts are cracker@hotkey.net.au and PLeon112@aol.com Regards, Mary shortis@spot.com.au From: <joannebruce@optushome.com.au> To: <AUS-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 20, 2003 5:30 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IRISH] Surnames: CARROLL... 1. [AUS-IRISH] PAF 5.2 PROGRAM
    2. James Desmond Skelly
    3. I recently downloaded the PAF 5.2 program and transferred my information from my other program by Ged Com file. There were a few problems in that in a lot of the wording in the notes section words run together and it is going to take me weeks to go through each line to separate words. I also discovered that those individuals that had birth, death or marriage Reg No's did not transfer as there does not seem provision for this on the PAF system. I wonder if there are ay listers who use this system and how do they go about recording Reg No's. Also I wonder what is the correct procedure when you want to back up on a floppy disc? I can't seem to get it to work. Someone told me to go into Tools, click on Preferences then on Folders and complete the top three lines as follows- PAF File - C:\My Documents Import /Export - A:\ Backup - A:\ When I go to file, insert floppy and click on Backup it does not work. My screen freezes up and will only unfreeze when I take the floppy out. I'd be grateful for advice on these matters. I am on Family Tree Maker V8 and like it, but I realy like the Generation Report that the PAF system has. That's why I switched, but there are drawbacks. My FTM is still current as well. I hope I haven't broken any protocol by raising these questions. Des Skelly. deskelly@optusnet.com.au

    2. Tony & Mavis
    3. Dear Listers My gggma was Mary Ann McCormick transported on Southworth 1832 convicted in Dublin where she was born and transported from Cork. She married George Bell 1837 Campbelltown and died in Dubbo. It appears she may have had a double as a Mary Ann McCormick married a William Allen according to her Certificate of Freedom 1840 when she was married to George Bell and had already tow Bell children. When transported it was said she was 27 and single. On her daughter's death certificate she is listed as Mary Thorpe. i wish to explore some possibilities (1) that this Mary Ann was born Thorpe and had actually married in Dublin before her "crime." (2) that she was transported as a Thorpe with an alias McCormick (3) that her duaghter attempted to disguise her convict past (4) any others. I an attempt to explore these ideas can anyone connected with any Mary Ann McCormicks of this era contact to assist in this mystery. There are several in NSW BDMs and some grooms are John WILLIAMS, W! illiam ALLEN, Michael McCORMICK, James SUTHERLAND. Thanks in Advance Mavis

    3. Thank you. You will find me at:- Mr Des Skelly 21 Woodlea Street, Moorooka, Qld, 4105. My wife will be, indeed grateful for this information. She has asked, what else is in the book? I went into booksearchwizard tonight and can buy a copy for $46, but, even though my wife would like the book, I am reluctant to spend that amount of money sight unseen. Thank you again. Des.
