Hiya... I'm new to all this... Suzanne Campbell is my name, living and working in Auckland, NZ. Borrowed some family tree information from my Mum and have gotten myself hooked! I'm currently looking for information on: William Pearson THOMPSON (b. 22 Apr 1809, d. 14 Oct 1850) - Macdonald River, NSW, AUS). Arrived a free man in 1814 on the Broxbornebury. Not sure from where, or into which port. Married: Elizabeth EWING (convict), (b. 18 July 1809 - England, d. 01 Oct 1893 - NSW, AUS) on 09 Nov 1829 in Sackville Reach, NSW, AUS. Any and all information, advice etc gladly received. Many thanks, Suzanne
Hi Suzanne, Your William Pearson THOMPSON was, according to the Hawkesbury Pioneer Register (Vol 1, pp 188-189), the son of Matthew Pearson THOMPSON, (b 12 Jan 1780, Slingsby, Yorkshire, England, baptised 23 Jan, 1780 - d 9 May 1849, McDonald Valley (NSW), bur St Albans Old General Cemetery). Matthew was a convict who arrived 7 Feb, 1814 (Port Jackson) per the "General Hewitt". Matthew was the son of Richard THOMPSON & Ann ISHERWOOD who were married 12 May 1767 at Slingsby, YKS, ENG. Matthew was married in England to Ann EARLE (b ca. 1783 ENG, dau of William/Robert & Mary EARLE), she died 17 Aug 1868, McDonald Valley, bur St Albans Old Gen Cem. There are further details of William's siblings, and an entry for William & his children on the same pages + an entry for Elizabeth EWING/EWENS/HEWINSE/EWINGS and her parents on page 53. There are several contributors listed for the various entries of the above, in the Hawkesbury Pioneer Register. The Broxbornebury arrived at Port Jackson on 28 July 1814. There is also an entry for William Pearson THOMPSON & Elizabeth EWING on Lesley Uebel's "Claim a Convict" web pages (http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/) under "Hawkesbury Settlers", "T". Matthew Pearson THOMPSON the Convict has been "claimed" by several people on Lesley' pages who would no doubt be willing to share info.
