Hi all, Below is a transcribed list of passengers from the Athenian which arrived February 26, 1852 Melbourne and as listed in the Argus March 1, 1852. There are some very distinctive names there. This was a Caroline Chisholm immigrant ship that left London Sept 1851. My ancestor George Collins was on it. According to various sources the passenger were grouped in group of not less than nine people. These groups were liable for the payment of 10 shillings each if a member defaulted on the repayments for the loan for the ship fare. My George Collins ended up on the Goldfields somewhere, then in the Warrmabool area in the mid 1850's. At the time of the British 1851 cenus he was in Mile End Town,London. It would be interested in seeing of where any links can be made for these groups. If you can claim a name below, where did they come from, and where did they end up? Apart from the Collins', I don't have info on any of the names, but I have a little info on the ship and the voyage.
