Good morning Listers, I am hoping SKS can assist me with the arrival of two Kerridge brothers, maybe both in Port Adelaide, or one in Port Adelaide, Joseph Kerridge and the other in Sydney, Walter Jowett Kerridge. Joseph Kerridge born circa 1841 in Stowmarket Suffolk and his younger brother Walter Jowett Kerridge born circa 1849 in Leeds, Yorkshire, arrived in Australia, when? In the 1871 Census, Walter Jowett Kerridge was still in England, as a boarder at Everton, Lancashire:- Walter J Kerridge, Lodger age 22, born Leeds, Yorkshire. However, his brother Joseph Kerridge cannot be found in the England in 1871. Joseph Kerridge 42 a single man is in Adelaide by 1883, as he married Isabel Varley 33 single, the daughter of James and Martha Varely (nee Crossland) at the home of George Bradley in North Adelaide, South Australia. On 8th February, 1883 Mr and Mrs. Kerridge arrived on the "Barrabool" in Sydney, they settled in Newtown an inner city suburb of Sydney, where three sons were born over the next seven years. Joseph's brother Walter arrived in the Colony, maybe with his brother or sometime later after Joseph and his wife Isabel had settled in Sydney, as Walter Jowett Kerridge, the son of James and Ellen Kerridge, died at Parramatta in 1899. I am unable to find a marriage for Walter. Any help with the arrival in Australia of these two brothers would be very much appreciated. Regards, Janice Belrose - Sydney
